Floating Numbers Table-Thoughts

Floating Numbers Table

The reason this appealed to me is because of the idea of mixing learning with new media. This was a way to involve people viewing the art with a new knowledge of the facts the numbers on the table represent. It is not only informative, but also visually stimulating. The way the numbers explode into the letters which compose the text that you read is amazing to the mind. It reminds me of a future technology of touch computers which unfold the way the numbers do on the table.

Same Knowledge-Pamela Z

Pamela Z-My thoughts

Pamela Z

When I stumbled on this page I discovered a complete new system of creating art through song and motion. What Pamela Z uses in her work is a tool called Bodysynth, this machine is attached to muscles on her body and turns gestures, motion, and body movement into sounds. (http://www.pamelaz.com/bodysynth.html). When watching some of her performance pieces, I realized she had found the perfect way to incorporate her music background with an expressive twist and made from new technology. Not only does she have a beautiful opera sounding voice, but she explores a way of showing it in a media I had no idea even existed. In her performance called "same knowledge" it is pretty cool how she sets up projectors and at first it creates a sort of setting as though she is in a house, but then it changed to projected pictures that go with her meaning for the piece. Her voice in "bones" feels as though she is connected with the earth, in a completely serene and soulful way. The technique of this work is pretty awesome.
